The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Unified Police Department were all smiles as they came together on April 11 to help the Easter Bunny deliver stuffed animals to students at the Kauri Sue Hamilton School. The school, located in Riverton, is a school specialized for students ages 5 to 22 years old with severe disabilities. “This has become an annual event for us. The children enjoy it, and it has been so good for us. It’s hearts meeting hearts,” Chief Rod Norton, Riverton Precinct commander, said. This is the third year the police departments have delivered Easter gifts to Kauri Sue Hamilton School, and they hope to continue the tradition.“We’ll come as long as they will have us,” Levi Hughes, Unified Police detective, said. “We love it. The kids love it. We look forward to it every year. It’s a good opportunity for the police to interact with our students in such a positive way,” Courtney Titus, a teacher at the school, said.
