In today's troubled economy, we all want to find ways to save money and get the best bargain possible. When shopping for your favorite breads, tortillas or pastries, your best bet is to visit Baker's Outlet in Riverton.

Located at 12652 South 2700 West, just south of Riverton High School, Baker's Outlet carries an assortment of bread, hamburger and hot dog buns, doughnuts, tortillas, cookies, muffins and more. The store carries the popular Wonder, Hostess and Mission brands, as well as local favorites, Dunford and Stone Ground.

"This is the only place to get Stone Ground Bakery products in a retail environment," Co-owner Stuart Fife says.

For the past 25 years, Baker's Outlet has operated as a distributor to grocery stores and markets from Ogden to Nephi and out west to Tooele. But recently, Stuart decided to expand to the wholesale retail business. The Baker's Outlet retail store opened in October 2009.

"We offer the public all the products we distribute to wholesale markets," Stuart says. "We're a family-friendly store. We still have a few things to learn about retail. We get good feedback and have loyal customers. People are still finding where we are."

Baker's Outlet is also happy to help you with your large parties, whether they are family reunions, church parties or company events. Whether it's 20 dozen doughnuts or 10 dozen packages of tortillas, Baker's Outlet can cater to your needs. Stuart says it's always best to call ahead (801-542-8286) to place an order rather than come to the store in person.

Most importantly, perhaps, is that you'll find significant economic value.

Customers will find Mission tortillas for sale at $3 for five packs. Dunford white and wheat bread is available for $1.25 a loaf. Stone Ground hot dog buns are as cheap as $1 for a package of six, while that brand's hamburger buns can be purchased in packs of 12 for just $2.59.

"We have an awesome value on fresh products," Stuart says. "It's a 50 percent savings from grocery stores."

You'll also find a great selection and variety, as Baker's Outlet carries specialty breads such as raisin bread, old world artisan breads and sourdough bread. Other favorites are the take home and bake Stone Ground sourdough loaf and the Stone Ground cinnamon swirl Texas toast.

Baker's Outlet also has Tommie's doughnuts, which has just one store remaining in Utah, found in Logan. The store also has a juice fountain, including a slushie machine, and also carries chocolate milk.

Coming soon, the store will offer Colosimo bulk hand-mixed spices.

Seniors 55 and older get a 5 percent discount every Tuesday.

Baker's Outlet is open Monday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The store is closed Sundays.
