Herriman youth performers will rock and roll

Herriman youth ages 5-12 and the Herriman Arts Council will present "We Built this City on Rock and Roll," this summer's youth musical.

It will be performed Aug. 26, 27 and 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the W&M Butterfield Park Pavilion, 6212 W Butterfield Park Way (14200 South), Herriman.

The stage transforms to Gameville City where you will watch the rivalry between the girls' chess team and the boys' chess team as they compete for Gameville's citywide chess tournament's first place trophy.

Director Cindy Schut and her staff give Herriman youth the opportunity to sing their hearts out to blockbuster songs from the 80s as the story plays out between the two teams until we hear who yells the final "Check Mate!"

Concept for the musical is by Michelle Willis and Linda Smith, story and script by Jeana Quigley and Michelle Willis. Funding provided through the Zoo Arts and Park Grant with matching funds from Herriman City.
