'Saturday's Warrior' is put on hold
Submitted by Kim Ostler, Riverton Arts Council
The Riverton Arts Council and Riverton City have worked closely together for years, united in our purpose of providing quality family entertainment for the members of our community. Our most recent planned production was "Saturday's Warrior," an inspiring production with a strong spiritual message. We have appreciated the city's support as we have worked out the details of this production.
Unfortunately, after lengthy discussions and research, we have mutually come to the conclusion that because of the strong religious content of this particular production, there is potential for violation of existing laws that separate state and church. We respect the city's position in this matter, as well as the legal church and state restrictions that exist to protect our rights as citizens. At the same time, we regret that we are unable to produce what we feel is a quality production with a timely message for today's youth. We are looking at other possible avenues to produce this show sometime in the future.
For now, however, we are putting the production of "Saturday's Warrior" on hold. We will be meeting as a board to determine our plans for our next production. We will communicate those plans as soon as they are finalized.
We thank the many members of the community who have been supportive of the Riverton Arts Council in the past and who continue to be so supportive now. We look forward to continuing to provide quality family entertainment moving forward.
