For the fourth year, Saint Andrew’s Elementary School is holding its annual fall festival weekend. The festival will take place Sept. 16, 17 and 18.

"Every year it gets bigger and better," Jim Gist, the festival coordinator, said. "It's a great place to have fun with your family, friends and people in the community."

Festival admission is free and dates and times are Friday, 6 p.m.-10 p.m., Saturday, 10 a,m.-10 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Friday night there will be an outdoor movie, live music, bingo and raffles. Saturday will include carnival rides and all sorts of fun for all ages. There will be bounce houses, a super slide, crafts and prizes and carnival games.

Also scheduled are several vendors. There are some returning vendors such as Cookie Lee jewelry, Scentsy candles, and cookware. Direct TV will also be there. They will be hosting the multiple TV screens in the beer garden. There will be several sports games shown throughout the weekend.

“Last year about 10,000 people showed up and we’re hoping for more this year,” Gist said.

The primary reason for the three-day weekend event is to raise money for the school. The monies earned over the weekend will go toward building play sets for the students as well as other amenities the school needs.

The event is not just for the students and their families however.;it is for the whole neighborhood. Usually about 95 percent of the festival goers belong somehow to the school, but there are many who come to celebrate in the community bonding experience.

There will also be plenty of home cooking. “As there are several Hispanic families in the area, there will be authentic Mexican food available all day,” Gist said.

“This is just a really good time for everyone,” Michelle Mulcahy, the school’s advancement director said.

There will also be a live bandstand and plenty of carnival rides and games.

“About mid-day on Saturday kids are running around with all sorts of stuffed animals,” Gist said. “It really is a great time.”
