Crane House
Holding a wedding or special event in the near future? The Crane House at 1640 West 13200 South is available for all types of events, from small, intimate gatherings to larger celebrations.
The Crane House has a history in Riverton, dating back to 1916 when the home was built for Heber and Mary Crane. Kathy and Mike Romero are working to bring the Crane House back to its former glory.
“The Crane House is history combined with family celebrations. It’s a place where memories are made,” Kathy says.
This is more than just your typical wedding reception center. It’s also a great place to hold birthday parties, business lunches and princess and cowboy parties for the children. The Crane House has been a community gathering place for years and Kathy says she wants that to continue.
In addition to events and parties, the Crane House offers monthly cooking classes. Guests are treated to cooking demonstrations from chefs from around the valley. The classes are offered on the second Thursday of month through December.
The gardens surrounding the house feature manicured lawns, shady trees and flowerbeds bursting with color. Kathy says the staff has worked hard to maintain the peaceful and contented feeling most guests feel there. After the event, guests have been known to linger in the gardens, enjoying the peaceful splendor.
Whether you have a large event or a small gathering, the Crane House can accommodate parties of nearly every size. An upcoming addition to the property will be the renovated the barn. When it’s completed in early fall, this rustic setting will offer guests the opportunity to hold large events in a unique setting, even during the coldest months.
For smaller gatherings, the house offers an elegant alternative to boring venues. Kathy says the Crane House is fully equipped to handle events no matter what the size. During weddings, the entire top floor of the house is dedicated to the bridal party. The Victorian bride’s room is the perfect spot for brides to prepare for their big day or to take a few minutes for them.
“Our facility is amazing – you really have to see the barn and the house to truly appreciate it,” Kathy says.
This fall, the Crane House will host several festivities for the community in the house and on the grounds. First is a consignment boutique on Aug. 11 called Something Old, Something New which features new and gently used clothing. The Crane House is also hosting the first Truman Festival in conjunction with The Valley Journals’ Kidsville newspaper. This family friendly event will be held on Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature blow up bounce houses, storytellers, food and other festivities with children in mind.
Saturdays in October, the grounds of the Crane House will be transformed into a pumpkin festival, complete with food, pumpkins and other fall favorites. Christmas will come to the Crane House on Dec. 3. The first three Saturdays in December will feature Christmas trees, live reindeer and the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap in the barn.
“We have something for everyone and every event,” Kathy says. “We want your event to be a special place to make family memories.”
