Kathy Bekkemellom

Kathy Bekkemellom, a business teacher at South Hills Middle School, has been named the 2011-12 Jordan School District Teacher of the Year. Bekkemellom is the technology committee chair, teacher member of the school leadership team, leader of several of the school’s Professional Learning Communities, a member of the school’s Utah Behavioral Initiative and chair to the new Response to Intervention program. In a letter to the Utah State Office of Education, Anthony Godrey, Administrator of Schools, said, “Ms. Bekkemellom is a truly talented educator. Her dedication to her profession is unsurpassed. She is continually looking for opportunities to learn and implement new ideas, and is committed to maximizing learning in the classroom. She is the rare person whose practice is truly guided by her principles of every child can learn and helping each child discover success.” Pictured: Administrator of Schools Teri Timpson, Kathy Bekkemellom, and South Hills Middle School Principal Janette Milano.
