Save the date: Valentine’s dance planned for fathers and daughters

105 days ago286 views

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, fathers will have an opportunity to spend some date-night quality time with their young daughters.

South Jordan Recreation Department is sponsoring a Daddy Daughter Dance scheduled for Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11. The local dance is a popular annual event that gives fathers and daughters a chance to make special family memories.

South Jordan Community Services Associate Director Melinda Nagai said the dance is sure to be a magical experience for the daughters because they get their father’s undivided attention.

“It makes the girls feel extra-special and important,” Nagai said.

The Daddy Daughter Dance is an activity recommended for fathers and their daughters between the ages of 3 and 12.

This year, the dance will have a tea party theme. Hors d’oeuvres and appetizers will be served and father-daughter pairs should plan to wear their Sunday-best dress attire.

There will be music and dancing at the event, and all of the daughters will take home a small disposable camera used to snap pictures during the party. Fathers will receive a corsage to give to their daughters.

The Daddy Daughter Dance will be held at three times in two local venues to include everyone who wants to attend.

“[The dance is always] so popular that we’re having it for two nights,” Nagai explained.

The dance will be held at the South Jordan Community Center, 10778 South Redwood Road and Daybreak Community Center, 4544 Harvest Moon Drive, on Friday, Feb. 10.

Then, on Saturday, Feb. 11, the dance will be held for a second time at the South Jordan Community Center.

Each night, the Daddy Daughter Dance is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Nagai said tickets for the dance could sell out, so families should plan to register to attend the dance in advance.

Tickets cost $24 per father-daughter couple if purchased before Feb. 1. Additional tickets can be purchased for a second daughter for $12 each.

After Feb. 1, tickets to the Daddy Daughter Dance cost $36.
